About Us

United Yoga is a BIPOC owned and operated space that was created for healing, connection, and empowerment by utilizing the ancient wisdom teachings offered through yoga.

United seeks to serve the surrounding community and beyond through an array of offerings such as: yoga asana classes, workshops, teacher trainings, continued education and providing a collective space for varied healing practitioners. We believe wellness should not be a luxury afforded to a few but a necessity for the liberation of all and because of that we exist to make yoga accessible, inclusive, and sustainable- regardless of income, ability, body type, age, gender, sexual orientation, beliefs, ethnicity, education, or background.

Today we see a community disconnected from their mind-body-spirit-system, from their callings, and from each other. The symptoms of this disconnection manifests in the fact that ¼ people live in physical pain everyday and ⅕ experience mental illness. Our classes, trainings, workshops, & retreats are designed to educate and empower people with the tools to reconnect. We bring people together with movement, breathwork, meditation, & self-study rooted ancient yoga philosophy and modern research.

UY in Michelle’s words:

When I entered the wellness industry in 2011, it was not led by women like me-- latina asian women with curvy bodies, modest income brackets, and a fire inside for justice, equality, and to bring others along on the healing journey that yoga offers. I formed United Yoga to be for all people--to be the yoga that I needed as a child and young woman; to be the yoga that my family and friends needed; to be the yoga that my community needs. We are training teachers to embody and teach authentic ancient yogic wisdom alongside the best of what we know today, and we are taking that training out into the fringes of our community.
