United Yoga Teacher training was founded to bridge the gap between the art and science of the yoga experience. We created a training rooted in the essence of healthy mindful movement and wholehearted living. Our unique teaching style integrates finding and strengthening your voice by drawing from your intuition, owning your authentic life story, as well as continued self discovery. We have connected this philosophy with an emphasis on anatomy and the strategies to develop intelligent movement patterns in sustaining a lifelong practice. This training is designed to educate, encourage and empower the heart, mind and body.

Each individual will complete this program with an enriched understanding and appreciation for this ancient practice, its history and philosophy, a deeper awareness and appreciation to the complexity of human movement and have advanced knowledge to correct alignment and minimize the risk of overuse injury.

UY teacher training is kept to an intimate group, which grants each person the opportunity to one on one and personalized training and guidance. We guarantee a safe space with your committed three lead teachers allowing you to build connection and fostering a trusting environment along with fellow trainees to build lasting relationships.

Trainee must attend 100% off sessions in order to comply with the Yoga Alliance requirements. However, we understand you have other commitments, so you may miss sections, day sessions, or even full weekends. Here are your make-up options:

Make-up Policy:

  • Option 1: Subsequent teacher training: You can attend any hours missed in upcoming training free of charge. (End of Summer to Early Fall 2018 training ahead)

  • Option 2: Private session: $100/hour with lead trainer (Two hour private session equates to a full day)

  • Option 3: UY Workshops/Events: Topics subject to change. Makeup by the hour.

Lead Trainers


Your 3 lead teachers differentiate from other TT leads because beyond their wealth of knowledge, education, & experience they understand what it takes to work together to create harmony in creating a safe space for people to be their authentic selves through the process of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth. For the last 10 years, we, Michelle, Marina and Heather have not only masterminded weekly together but have organized several women's events and coached multiple mastermind groups. We are passionate about creating a legacy of wholehearted people who dare to live out their dream life. 

Michelle Pasos

I, along with my husband, am the proud owner of United Yoga. As a mom, it is my privilege & calling to also serve the mama community through Maia Mamas. I’ve been practicing yoga for over 10 years and received my 200 hour YTT through YogaWorks. As an E-RYT, I have over 4,000 hours of teaching experience from Iyengar to prenatal to advanced power flow. My teaching settings range from yoga studios & gyms across the SGV, a non-profit fostering at-risk teens, corporate wellness, and community yoga.

In 2011, I received my master's in Kinesiology and have been teaching as an adjunct professor in the Kinesiology department at Azusa Pacific University for the last 5 years. I had the privilege of proposing and being granted a Fitness for Life Yoga class which now serves over 50 students every semester. I’m passionate about student development and curriculum design. 

My ultimate vision has always been to lead a YTT. With my Kinesiology background, passion for yoga, love for people and philosophy of living I am beyond blessed to have given life to a multi-faceted and whole hearted training with my two soul sisters.

My faith in God, true grit, and hope in the future has allowed me to co-create my dream life. I'm a firm believer that you have the power & ability to do the same. I aim to encourage you in identifying your strengths and following your curiosity and cannot wait to see your transformation. 

Marina Belmonte

I am a certified E-RYT with over 4000 classes under my teaching belt. I specialize in teaching Vinyasa, Sculpt and Barre, and enjoy teaching prenatal and Yin classes. 

Each year I have the opportunity to co-lead international yoga retreats, women's events and co-created a children's Yoga Summer Camp. I love leading workshops infusing mindful yoga with essential oils and relaxing meditation.

Along with sharing Yoga with the world, I am a holistic health coach certified through The Institute of Integrative Nutrition. David Wolfe, Deepak Chopra, Bernie Siegel and Joshua Rosenthal are some of my favorite health professionals that I have had the opportunity to study under. Because of my passion for food as medicine, cooking and fitness I am the owner of a health coaching company that ties together Yoga, Nutrition and overall Wellness. I designed an original and unique Corporate Wellness Program coaching groups across Orange County to take their health back into their own hands. 

I found my calling to teach the yogic lifestyle to those on their health journey to find balance in all aspects of their lives physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. 

Heather Thomas

I am a licensed physical therapist that has been fascinated by the intricacies of the human body since youth. I grew up playing basketball, softball and volleyball and went on to play basketball in college. I attended the University of Redlands graduating magna cum laude with a major in Biology and minor in Psychology. My passion for helping people and studying the human body and movement lead me to Azusa Pacific University where I received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

I completed my post-doctoral residency program at Kaiser Permanente, which included one on one mentoring in clinical reasoning and hands on skills. As a Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, I am passion about providing evidence based, patient focused care that considers the whole individual’s well being. My hope is to empower each person to gain understanding of their symptoms, have increased awareness to their unique movement patterns, and take control of their wellness. I whole heartedly support the APTA vision statement to “transform society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience.”



United Yoga's yoga teacher training has been such an incredibly transformative experience for me. Its done so much more than just enhanced my yoga practice, it has provided a space to cultivate a community of likeminded individuals that encourage, challenge, and embrace each other whole heartedly. I've become more intentional in my relationships, my practice, and my everyday life. Learning to allow my yoga practice to transcend the class room has been one of the most valuable things I've taken from this experience; from striving to be more honest with myself and others, to seeking to pursue peace and gratitude in any situation, to building my faith and relationship with my Creator, I have see every aspect of my life improve and become enriched. After coming from a season of uncertainty and confusion this program has been one of the greatest gifts. The United Yoga YTT is so much more than I imagined it would be. Before I began the teacher training I had been practicing yoga on and off for about ten years, experiencing a plethora of teachers and styles of yoga. This teacher training has greatly deepened my understanding of the practice, both physically and spiritually. Its a wonderful blend of left and right brain information, the spiritual and the scientific. As a yoga teacher I want to be able to offer my students a deeply enriching experience that is also keeping them safe and healthy. Having Heather's expertise as a Dr of Physical Therapy is a HUGE bonus.  It's very helpful to be able to ask her specific questions that apply to the body's biomechanics and how that relates to yoga.  The training  hasn't been easy (nothing worthwhile is), but we have received so much positive feedback that we are gaining confidence as teachers after every weekend together. Michelle, Marina and Heather have pushed us to teach, teach teach which can feel very uncomfortable at times, but with their guidance we have all begun to develop our own unique style as we become more comfortable with leading students through a practice. Overall I have had an amazing experience and I am so glad that I have joined the YTT at United Yoga Studio. It's a professional experience with a personal touch. -Traci


I was prescribed yoga by my doctor. I had been carrying back pain for about 2 years, along with other physical and emotional stress that had settled in my body. My first Savasana experience, in March 2017, brought me to tears as the memory of my mother being in excruciating pain with limited movement, due to her cancer, crossed my mind. In my heart, I knew I would pursue health and healing in honor of her.With more frequent practice, I noticed my body responded positively and it craved more healing. With time, curiosity took over regarding the possibilities of sharing this gift of yoga with others. This is when the Holy Spirit led me to United Yoga Studio. My experience in the Teacher Training Program at UYS was totally beyond my expectations. It was such an amazing, liberating, and empowering experience of body, mind, and spirit. Thanks to their teachings, I am more mindful on and off the mat. This gives me internal peace and clarity. I now teach yoga and can do so confidently because UYS teachers (Michelle, Marina, and Heather) provided a space for me to find my own voice & style and own it, with a humble spirit. I will forever be grateful for these beautiful and genuine souls. -Norma
